Transformational Movement

An innovative method of energetic and emotional transformation using breath sound and movement in a completely  new way.

“Transformational Movement” is a system of emotional end energetic self-nourishment which uses specific corporeal positions, sound and breathing to restructure our internal emotional and energetic environment, thus permitting a more complete and harmonious interaction with the world around us.
We chose the name “Transformational Movement” so as to focus on the transformational qualities  of movment and to make one aware that when we move we change the way we feel, and thus who we “are” in that moment. Usually we are not aware of who we are in any given moment but are absorbed in our thoughts, goals fears, etc. In Transformational Movement we become aware of our physical posture and positioning and its emotional and energetic effect on our state of “being”. Normally the movement that we are aware of is a result of conscious thought and purpose and the movement which we are unaware of (simultaneous to “conscious” movement) is a result of satisfying an internal need (nervous movement to release tension, etc.) or an unconscious externalization of an internal situation or “feeling” (body language).

When we develop “physcial awareness”  or “constant positional consciousness” we can then modify our position from one to another more conducive to what we have to do or what we want to feel. We can modify positions normally related to feelings of frustration, protectiveness, depression or anger into positions representative of openness, relaxation, satisfaction, or joy. We can use this understanding to increase our capacity to concentrate or to relax. We can eliminate old physical habits which keep us energetically and emotionally “closed” and not functioning at our best. This system of self nourishment develops self assuredness and allows us a more free and spontaneous expression of our “true” self. One develops a deeper and more complete understanding of the interweaving of the emotional and energetic circutry of the human body and thus becomes able to activate or attenuate certain aspects at will. That is, one learns to modify and change his or her own personal emotional substrate according to parameters established by the indivual himself.

In the past I have also used the term “Conscious Movement” to underline the fact that one develops an “awareness” or continual understanding of the emotinal effect of our posture and physical positioning. We learn to eliminate old physical habits which emotionally or energetically reduce our vitality and expression. This “self nourishing” * system allows a more spontaneous and confident manifestation of our person. We develop a new “understanding” of the body and its emotional and energetic systems and how they can be activated or attenuated. That is, we learn to modify our energetic emotional conformation according to pareameters established by the individual himself.

In the human body there are certain areas which are connected to specific types of experiences and emotions: just like there are specific “erogenous zones”, there are also zones of “confidence”, power, relaxation, concentration, physical strength, agility, mental clarity etc. . These areas are activated through body positioning and the firing of the related muscles. Normally the positions of the body are guided by internal and external stimuli (conscious and unconscious). These stimuli create the positions, movements and breathing patterns through an interaction of muscle, nerves and joints. The sensations which cause these changes can be voluntarily elicited reproducing the process in the opposite direction, that is one consciously takes a position to stimulate the relative emotional energetic state. The activated energies and sensatations are “incorporated” through the specific movements accompanied by  “conscious breathing” which pays attention to the changes activated. In this way one develops a deep understanding of the energies and emotions connected to each corporeal position. One also discovers the areas where specific energies are deposited, how to utilize these energies (transform them), and how to create new energetic and emotional situations through modification of  physical positioning and the “type” of breath utilized.

This is an “awareness” where tensions and “energies” which other techniques call “blocks” or “negative” energies, are simply viewed as deposits of “available” energy. Through the breath and the contraction and relaxation of muscles, these deposits are “dissolved” and actively redistributed and reabsorbed during the “out breath”, spontaneously promoting well being througha sort of “energy recycling”. Changing the position of the body and consciously breathing that position even alters the sub conscious energetic and emotional substrate. This means that it is not neccesary that the person be consciously aware of the change. The effect is automatic. Th effect is not connected to the conscious participation of the individual but is connected directly to the movement itself and the the alteration of emotional and energetic “circuitry”. This effect however, can be enhanced and rendered more “conscious” through the use of a conscious, “feeling”, breath.

Therefore, when doing “Transformational Movement”, one elicits emotional and energetic “changes” which create a sense of self assuredness and “strength” even if one isn’t consciously aware of the meccanisms. However, the scope of this technique is to specifically develop a continual awareness or “consciousness” of the changes elicited through movement and breath,  to “teach” where the “deposits” of specific types of energy are located, how to transform these energies and re-utilize in them in the same or other areas of the body, learning what types of positions and movements are useful in effecting what types of changes.

Every time you change your physical position you change who you are!

Every time you change the position of your body you change the distribution of energy and stimulate the sensations which are elated to that position. In this way your perception is changed, the filter through which you see or feel the world is different, that is, in a very “real” way, you change who you are in that moment. Normally one changes his or her position “unconsciously”,  finding a position consonant with the energy, sensations and emotions one is living. One seeks a “comfortable” position for who he or she is in that moment, how he or she feels in any given moment.

In “Transformational Movement” one takes the position which stimulates (elicits) the energies and sensations whch are useful for a given activity. The understanding of the mechanisms of these changes, allows one to properly use corporeal  positions to develop the related energetic and emtional modifications to promote a greater sen s of well being, giving the indivual a greater capacity to better ..............  the various situations which present themselves in daily life.

* “Self nourishing” because the person “feeds” himself through the type of energy that he creates through the positioning of the body and from the energy freed from certain specific energy deposits which are dissolved during the process of movement.
